Police in Katsina State yesterday confirmed the killing of 12 persons by terrorists at Gakurdi village in Jibia Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s spokesman Gambo Isa told The Nation on the phone that the terrorists also burnt some farmlands belonging to the residents of the village.
He said, ”The terrorists arrived the village on four motorcycles and started shooting. ‘The situation caused panic in the village, which made residents to scamper for safety.”
Isa also said that some villagers who attempted to escape to their farmlands were killed by the terrorists.
“The bandits were at the village this (yesterday) morning and killed 12 villagers. Some of those killed included those attempting to escape to their farmlands. The Commissioner of police led a team of security operatives to the village,” he said.
