A twenty-year-old woman, Precious Aigbokhode, has been raped and killed in Agenebode, headquarters of Etsako East council of Edo State.
The Nation learnt yesterday that Aigbokhode bled to death after being stabbed many times by her rapists.
Police spokesman Chidi Nwabuzor said one Zachariah was arrested in connection with the attack.
In Cross River, gunmen abducted a female student of the Arthur Jarvis University in Akpabuyo council.
The school, in a statement signed by Acting Registrar, Mrs. Ughas Ngozi, confirmed the incident, saying the student was taken away around 8.pm on Tuesday.
The institution said “security agencies are in control of the situation” and that “students and staff are please requested to remain calm and go about their normal duties.”
Multiple sources confirmed that the students were returning to their hostel from their night reading class when the gunmen accosted them, abducted one of them.
Police spokesperson Irene Ugbo said the Commissioner of Police, Aminu Alhassan, has drafted personnel to the area.
The school is about 15km from Calabar.
