Transporter docked for allegedly stealing N2.7m goods

 

A 39-year-old transporter, Lucky Dauda, was on Thursday docked in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing goods worth N2.7 million from a warehouse.


The defendant, a transporter, who resides at 10, Ayetolu St., Agbelekale, Abule Egba, Lagos, is charged with conspiracy and theft.


The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the offence was committed on July 9, at 166, Ishe Oluwa Bus Stop, Ekoro area, Abule Egba.


Odugbo said that the defendant and others now at large, broke into a warehouse, belonging to  Grace Adepoju, at night and stole goods worth N2.7million


The prosecutor said that they stole some cartons of blue band butter, cartons of soap and cartons of milo tea, among others.


Odugbo said that the defendant was apprehended at the scene while others escaped.


The offence, he said, contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.


The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.


The Chief Magistrate,  M. F Onamusi, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum N500,000, with two sureties in like sum.


Onamusi adjourned the case until Aug. 22 for mention.
