Insecurity: Ogun Police Command dispels kidnap rumour on Kara bridge

The Ogun State Police Command has debunked the social media rumour, purporting that 20 people were kidnapped by bandits on Kara bridge along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The rebuttal is contained in a press statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, declaring that the news was “nothing but fake and lies from the pit of hell”.

Speaking on the speculation which he said was capable of causing panic in the mind of the public, Oyeyemi stressed that there was nothing like kidnapping of anyone, let alone of 20 persons at the Kara bridge or anywhere along the ever busy highway.

“Those behind the fake news are mere mischief makers, who always derive joy from causing unnecessary panic in the minds of innocent members of the public.

“The general public is hereby advised to discountenance the fake news as nothing of such happened at the said Kara bridge” the statement said.

The police spokesperson stated in view of the ongoing road construction work on the axis, the State’s commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered 24hrs surveillance patrol of the area to checkmate the activities of hoodlums who might wanted to take advantage of the gridlock to perpetrate evils.
