Man, 25, arrested for stoning his two kids to death

A man in Adamawa State has been arrested for allegedly stoning his two sons to death.

The Adamawa State Police Command, which arrested the youth, said he and his sons lived in Himikidu, a community in Michika, a local government area in northern Adamawa.

The command said its operatives apprehended the 25-year-old Elisha Tari on Friday, August 18, after he allegedly murdered the two children who were aged three and five years respectively.

The Command, in a statement signed and passed to newsmen yesterday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said Elisha Tari killed the kids with stones and sticks “which he had used in hitting them on their heads several times.”

Nguroje said the incident was reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Michika by the grandfather of the victims.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that the victims’ mother got separated from the suspect two months ago after they had a misunderstanding,” the police spokesman said.

He explained that the suspect was arrested while he was trying to escape to neigbouring Cameroon Republic, and had been brought to the police headquarters in Yola where he was undergoing interrogation.
